Cloud Rays Over the Peruvian Coast

Cloud Rays Over the Peruvian Coast

Actinoform clouds take their name from the Greek word for "ray", because of their distinctive radial, fern-like structures. They typically form where marine stratocumulus clouds are found, like in this case, over the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of Peru.

Clouds are an integral part of the observations the PACE mission will be making. The first cloud products from PACE are now available, and more will be released soon. Stay tuned!
