The SeaWiFS LOWLW flag is intended to detect cloud shadows using a threshold on the Band 5 nLw. Alternate approaches using different or multiple bands may be more effective. For example, MODIS uses a combination of bands equivalent to SeaWiFS Bands 6 and 8.
