Mask Test Results

A level-3 8-day bin file was made for the period starting June 2, 2001with a minimal amount of masking criteria (ATMFAIL, LAND, FILTER, CLDICE, CHLFAIL, NAVFAIL) to form a control case to test the impact of other flags in masking data.  11 masks usually used in the level-3 processing were individually turned on and the impact of each mask is shown below.  The impact of the masks are rated in order of the most amount of bins (earth area coverage) removed to the least.  The decrease in number of samples and an image of the location of the lost bins is also shown.
