PACE Validation in California |
The PACE Post-launch Airborne eXperiment (PACE-PAX) is a field campaign that was performed from September 3 to September 30 2024 in Southern and Central California to support the validation of PACE data products. The campaign included measurements from two airplanes, NASA's ER-2, and a twin-otter plane. Multiple vessels, including a research vessel from NOAA, RV Shearwater, and a sailboat, RV Blissfully, were also mobilized for the effort and coordinated with the planes. The area covered by the campaign is visible in this image, and PACE satellite measurement datasets taken throughout the month will be used in concurrence with the PACE-PAX field measurements to validate PACE data and improve PACE data products. Data from the campaign should be made available to the public within the next six months. This image was taken by the OCI sensor aboard PACE on September 6, 2024. |
