Laptev Sea

Russia's Lena River sends a lot of fresh water through the Laptev Sea in the summertime. This has pronounced effects on the ecology and on ice formation in the broader Arctic Ocean. The above image of the Lena River Delta and the Laptev Sea comprises data collected by Aqua/MODIS on September 10, 2020 near the end of a particularly warm summer in Siberia.
