Triad of Cyclones

The above triplet of large low pressure systems over the Pacific and Arctic oceans was recorded by VIIRS instruments (aboard NOAA-20 and Suomi-NPP) on July 28 and 29, 2020 (depending on which side of the date line you are viewing). Click on the above composite to get a larger version or download an even larger (192 megapixel, 59 megabyte) image in which the careful observer can spot: phytoplankton blooms (east of Japan and south of Alaska), CDOM-rich runoff from the Khatanga River, smoke plumes and burn scars from Russian forest fires, and even an erupting island volcano's ash plume.
