Norwegian Sea

High phytoplankton productivity helps make today's Norwegian Sea a carbon dioxide sink. Analyses of boron isotopes in fossil foraminifera tests from that part of the world hint that the sea may have occasionally become a CO₂ source during the last 135 thousand years.
