Guys,

It might sound a very simple question. :)
If I were to conduct an exercise on validating the oceancolor satellite SST against my own insitu SST measurement, which equipment(infrared thermometer or anything else) would be the best?

Mind to throw some lights?

This can get quite involved, depending on your goals and budget. It is one thing to get some SST values to compare, and much harder to collect the information needed to understand the differences you see.  The latter might require characterization of the water surface (wave height and orientation, etc.) and atmospheric conditions.  See: Sea Surface Temperature algorithm refinement and validation though ship-based infrared spectroradiometry.
