Ang Lien Fong Project Title: Near Real Time Monitoring of Taiwan Coastal Waters Investigator(s): I-I Lin Funding Agency(s): National Science Council, Taiwan Description of the Research Project and Justification for Real-time SeaWiFS Data: This project aims to explore the potential of using SeaWiFS ocean colour data in Asian waters. Monthly cruises are planned to collect sea truth data in Taiwan regional waters. It is therefore important to obtain real-time SeaWiFS data to assist in planning sampling stations during the cruise. It is proposed that SeaWiFS data will be analysed immediately after reception. Feature locations will be identified. This information will soon be delivered to the cruise team via satellite fax/phone. The cruise team can then immediately proceed to the feature location to make measurements. The measured sea truth data will be used to compare with the SeaWiFS data.
