Display Window Help

Description: The Display Window contains a full resolution image of the corresponding band data. It also provides image display functions on the displayed image as well as on the associated raw or geophysical data.

Note: There is no hard-coded limit to the number of display windows open at one time. The only limit is the memory of your machine.




Informational Items:
Window Title The window title contains the window number and the name of the band data that is loaded into it.

Action Items:

Window Resizing The window containing the full-resolution image can be resized at any time by holding down the first mouse button and dragging the corners of the widget.
Window Scrolling The full resolution image can be scrolled in either the x-direction or the y-direction by using the scroll bars.
Functions  Pressing the Functions button shows a list of functions that can be performed on the currently displayed image.  For functions which require many possible input parameters (such as Grid and Coastline), selecting the function from the function menu will cause the function to be performed with default values. To modify these default values, use the Setups Menu button.
Rescale Bring up Display Scaling Setup GUI to allow modifying scaling options for redisplay.
Roam Window Provide sub-sampled window for roaming through full-resolution image.
Zoom Window Provide zoom window for full-resolution image.
Cursor Position Show lat/lon and data values at cursor location for full-resolution and zoom windows.
Grid Overlay default gridline graphics on image.
Coastline Overlay default coastline graphics on image.
Landmask Overlay a landmask on any navigable displayed image.
Contour Plot contour intervals on image or in new window.
Histogram Plot histogram of raw or geophysical data values.
Read and Profile  Show box-area data vals, jump to lat/lon position, profile row/column, mark cursor location.
Ship Track Overlay external ASCII column data tracks on image or make plots in separate window.
Vector Overlay Overlay u,v vectors on any regularly gridded displayed image.
Annotate/Blotch Annotate full-resolution, roam or zoom windows.
Spreadsheet Show ASCII spreadsheet of either raw data values or geophysical data values.
Graphics
Erase Permanently erase all graphics in the current window.
Turn Off Turn off all graphics in the current window.
Turn On Turn on all graphics in the current window.
Load Load graphics from:
Save Output graphics of the current window to a file.
Copy Copying graphics between display windows.
Graphics Control Window Control specific graphics by color (on/off/erase/compliment).
Modify Graphics Colors Modify the SeaDAS graphics color values.
Color Bar Color bar on/off and setup controls.
Color LUT
Load LUT Load a color table from:
  • a predefined IDL color table
  • a previously loaded band
  • an ASCII file
  • an HDF color palette
Load Default LUT Load the user-defined default color table.
Save LUT Save current color table into: 
  • an ASCII file
  • an HDF color palette
Create LUT Modify existing color tables.
Configure Color Tables  Set the number of concurrent tables in the current SeaDAS session.
Output
Data Output raw or geophysical data values corresponding to full window or region to an external HDF SD, binary flat file, ASCII file, or SeaDAS Mapped file (if the file has been projected).
Navigation Output navigation data in binary or ASCII format.
Display Output full window contents or region to a PNG or Postscript file.
Graphics Output SeaDAS graphics values (1 to 7) from full window or window region to an external HDF SD or a binary flat file.
Refresh Window Redisplay current image and refresh all graphics.
Setups Pressing the Setups button shows a list of available setup default menus for some of the functions. These setups contain the default values used when the function is selected from the Functions menu:
 
Grid Bring up GUI for gridline options.
Coastline Bring up GUI for coastline options.
Landmask Bring up GUI for landmask options.
Color Bar Bring up GUI for color bar options.
Info Show general information about this window in the SeaDAS text widget.
Help Show this help in HTML viewer.
Quit Delete the current display window and the image and graphics associated with it. The associated band data is still available for redisplay.
