the ocean color ftp directory structure has been updated as described below to better organize the multiple product suites that we provide access to and to add some additional products.  please check any automated scripts that you might have to make sure that they are pointing to the correct data directory.  thanks,
gene

The following is a description of the types of data you can download
here and how the directories are structured.

             MODISA - MODIS-Aqua Data

/Aqua_Binned - MODIS Aqua Level-3 binned (4-km) data.  The files
are organized by binning period: i.e.  Daily, 8-Day,
                                    Monthly, Monthly Climatology, Seasonal, etc.

                     /Aqua_SMI - MODIS Aqua Level-3 4-km and 9-km standard-map files
of Chlorophyll (CHLO), Angstrom coefficient (A531),
                                 Diffuse attenuation (K490), Normalized Water-Leaving
Radiance at 551nm (L551), Aerosol optical thickness
(T869) and Sea Surface Temperature (SST) in HDF format.
The files are organized by time binning period: i.e.
Daily, 8-Day, Monthly, Monthly Climatology, Seasonal,
                                 etc.

/ATTEPH - The definitive attitude and ephemeris data for
MODIS Aqua.  These are needed for producing geo-
location files.  The files are organized by
                               year and day (YYYY/DDD).

/L3BIN - L3-binned data.  These are the same products available in the
Aqua_Binned directory, organized by year and day.

/Quicklook - non-optimal ancillary data and may not include
                                          all granules.

/YYYYDDD   - optimal ancillary data and will include all granules
                                          that could process successfully.

/L3SMI - L3-standard-maps of the binned data in L3BIN directory.  These are
the same products available in the Aqua_SMI directory, organized by
                              year and day.

/Quicklook - non-optimal ancillary data and may not include
                                          all granules.

/YYYYDDD   - optimal ancillary data and will include all granules
                                          that could process successfully.

                     /Recent_Day - Rolling archive of MODIS Aqua L1A, L1B, Geo-location,
and L2 daytime data for the most-recent N (currently 14)
days. The files are organized by YYYYDDD in the following
                                   subdirectories:

/Quicklook - best-available ancillary data used for GEO and L2.

/Refined   - optimal ancillary data used for GEO and L2 -or-
10-day wait period for optimal data expired.

METOZ - NCEP Meteorological (MET) and TOMS/TOVS Ozone (OZ)
ancillary data used for L1-L2 processing.  The files are
                      organized by YYYY/DDD.

OISST - NOAA Optimum Interpolation (OI) Sea Surface Temperature.
These files are used as input for the L1-L2 SST processing.
See the README file in this directory for more information.

subscriptions - Files staged for user subscriptions.  Files are organized
in subdirectories for each subscription ID.

  Compression Formats:
  --------------------
Most of the files on this site have been compressed with the "bzip2" compression
utility.  Bzip2 is included with most Linux distributions.  They can be
uncompressed using either of the following commands:

     bzip2 -d file
     bunzip2 file

If you do not have bzip2 installed on your platform, you can visit the
official bzip2 home page to download it: http://sources.redhat.com/bzip2/

Some files may be compressed with "gzip" (.gz) or standard *NIX "compress" (.Z).
Both of these formats can be uncompressed using either of the following commands:

     gzip -d file
     gunzip file
