I am unable to process Aqua L1A files to L1B using default settings.  I am not sure if it because I recompiled all binaries (see my earlier message).

Example, I downloaded the following file http://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi/getfile/A2012031043500.L1A_LAC.bz2 (I have tried a couple of other files I already had as well with the same result)

Generation of GEO file succeeds without errors, but processing the L1A to L1B gives the following error:
SeaDAS>
unix cmd =
$SEADAS/run/scripts/modis_L1B.py /tmp/64/A2012031043500.L1A_LAC /tmp/64/A2012031043500.GEO -o /tmp/64/A2012031043500.L1B_LAC -k /tmp/64/A2012031043500.L1B_HKM -q /tmp/64/A2012031043500.L1B_QKM --del-hkm --del-qkm

I also have same problem with process Aqua L1A files to L1B using default settings. (Generation of GEO file was successful)

Ah, in trying to keep the previous code functional for a couple of weeks, I inadvertently failed to
put the new format LUTs into the run/var/modis[at]/cal/OPER directory in the
seadas_processing_common.tar.gz file

There is a simple fix:

...under $SEADAS/run/var/modis[at]/cal, remove the V6.1.7.3_OCh (or V6.1.6.3_OC3a for Terra)
version LUTS from the OPER subdirectory and replace them with the highest version numbered files
from EVAL (should be V6.1.15.4 for Aqua and V6.1.6.3a for Terra).

I'll fix the release tarfile.

I was able to process a Modis Aqua L1A file up to L2 level.  I compared it with the one on the oceancolor-website and a scatter plot shows that they are identical.  Thanks, nice work.

You might have to change the LUTS on oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov as well, since when I do an update_luts.py they get reverted to the older version:

update_luts.py aqua --verbose
[ MODIS ]
+ leapsec.dat
+ utcpole.dat
[ MODIS: AQUA ]
- OPER:MYD02_Emissive_LUTs.V6.1.15.4.hdf
- OPER:MYD02_QA_LUTs.V6.1.15.4.hdf
- OPER:MYD02_Reflective_LUTs.V6.1.15.4.hdf
+ OPER:MYD02_Emissive_LUTs.V6.1.7.3_OCh.hdf
+ OPER:MYD02_QA_LUTs.V6.1.7.3_OCh.hdf
+ OPER:MYD02_Reflective_LUTs.V6.1.7.3_OCh.hdf

Ah, well, yes.  I'd forgotten that we changed the logic to ensure that whatever is in the OPER directory is used (and updated if it's not the same as the local).
Previously, we used the version numbering to select the highest numbered set - but that got confusing when various letters were injected.
The LUTs on the website will be switched on Jun 18th to give users a chance to update to 6.4 or turn off their automated LUT checks.

Thanks for the notice.

Hi Sean,
I installed 6.4 today - 21 June 2012 and seem to be having a similar problem - do I need still need to implement the directions you described earlier (pre 18 june) in this forum-thread?
Thanks, V-

Did you try updating he LUTs?  The website now has the updates, but the data distributed with 6.4 should have the compatible LUTs...

yes.
i will start a new subject with my new question.
