I am currently using seadas6.1 and about a month ago my processing
starting have problems.  The problems seem to relate to the seadas script
modis_L1A_to_GEO.csh which used to work reliably but no longer does for
me.  I just tried it at the command line, it worked the other day,
sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.  Here is what I got:

  So modis_L1A_to_GEO.csh failed for A2012061183000.L1A_LAC.GMex_ne.hdf.
But it just worked for A2012069191500.L1A_LAC.GMex_n.hdf and
  A2012070200000.L1A_LAC.GMex_n.hdf.

This script, modis_L1A_to_GEO.csh, used to work with no problems
(mostly), but now is having a lot of trouble.  Has anything changed
that I am not aware of?  Any ideas on how I can deal with this?  I've
been trying to get it to work but not getting anywhere.

  Thanks for any help,

  Ray

Ray,

For a number of reasons that I will not go into here,  we are moving away from FTP distribution of data.

There are a couple of issues with the older csh scripts distributed with 6.1:
1) uses FTP
2) guesses on the filenames needed - does a good guess, but still a guess

Your current issue (well, the example you posted) is due to a bad guess.  The files it expects to find are not
available on the ftp site.

The current version (6.3) uses python scripts to do the searching and downloading.

One "benefit" of the older scripts are that they use wget, which is more forgiving when connecting to a server.
If there is a network issue, it has the smarts to try again.  The current python scripts aren't so smart in that
respect, but the next update will include modifications to do a better job of handling connectivity issues.

That caveat aside, you proabably would be best served by updating your version of SeaDAS.
