Maybe I didn't get all the files in my dowload either and that's why I cant' find the bashrc, etc. files. (see my posts yesterday, today).
But I am trying this for now on Macbook Pro (intel) with OsX 10.6.8
I was following the "step by step" installation instructions but only got as far as the instruction to "source" the sds6.3_*.dnld file.

The "online-auto installation" requires a robust internet connection -- I have heard rumors that such things exist, but certainly they are not to be found in all parts of the globe. The files may still be present in the $SEADAS directory of the Macbook and can be copied to your iMac. I suggest downloading the files manually and then checking each file using "gzip -t" to ensure that none of the files are corrupt. If you still have the script created in the "online-auto installation" process use it to see which files you need to download, or you can get it again. Once you have all the files, edit the 'sds6.3_NNNNNNNN.dnld" scripy to delete the following block of lines:
ftp -p samoa.gsfc.nasa.gov << %%
[...]
%%
Then "source" the script and you should get the license acceptance panel and then the configuration panel.
