I was trying to install seadas6.2 on ubuntu 11.04. I got a series of errors installing IDL and Seadas. I have seen people having problems like this http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/forum/oceancolor/topic_show.pl?pid=16211;hl=sharable#pid16211.

I tried both Seadas for 32 and 64 linux. none worked. So I decided to reinstall linux 10.04.

After installing 10.04, everything worked fine. No problem installing idl nor seadas6.2.

I have seadas 6.2 linux_64 (but using only the embedded IDL runtime) on Ubuntu 11.04 amd_64, so it is more likely that you ended up with mismatched 32/64 versions or were missing some packages.  Without the exact error messages we can't do much.
