Hi,
I am using shiptrack after quite a while and I seem to have 2 problems that i didnt use to have in the older versions of Seadas:
1) I have .dat file with station locations for 3 cruises. If i load this file, then zero for 'lines to skip' and give the x number of stations for Cruise 1 it works well, but if i then do lines to skip=x and lines to read=y with y being the number of stations in Cruise 2, I still get x+y lines plotted again. So this way i cant give two different colored points for the two cruises.
2) If i wanted to plot preselected boxes, I used to be able to give for the coordinates of the 4 corners of each box and then repeat the first one to close the box. Once again i could use 'skip lines and read lines' to plot separate boxes.  Now for reasons unknown to me the last point of the 1st box and the first point of the 2nd box get connected. As in the previous case the 'skip lines and read lines' doesnt work.
Hope I made myself clear!
Thanks
Helga

Helga,

If you provide us with an example input shiptrack file (and a corresponding satellite filename)
we may be able to investigate this for you.  I will not go so far as to say we'll fix any errors soon,
as our focus is on the development of the next generation SeaDAS.  However, if a problem exists
and the solution is simple, we may include it in a future release of the 6.x version.

There will be a minor update shortly to address data file changes with the latest mini-reprocessing
of MODIS-Aqua.  We may be able to address this before that if provided with examples.

Regards,
Sean

Hi Sean,
Thanks for your response. The file that i am going to attach is made up of the coordinates of 4 boxes with the upper left repeated to close the box. That's 20 lines and then I have 20 lines of station locations. It doesnt matter which image, the problem still persists.
Thanks a lot.
Helga

Helga,

The skip lines feature worked for me.  However, you are correct, you cannot load multiple segments and give the different colors.
SeaDAS only recognizes one shiptrack, you can append data to it, but it will be considered one track.  This is why your boxes
get connected.  You can use the annotate feature to create boxes separately as 'blotches' - you will lose some of the functionality
of ship track in doing so, but if your needs are to retrieve satellite data for these boxes the annotate/blotch feature should work fine.

Regards,
Sean
