Hi,

I am downloading MODISA Sea Surface Temperature data from Mapped data product where I download hdf4 files and open them in HDF View software installed in my windows XP system.
HDF View display these files as HDF4 files and expands two grid files on left pane. one is l3m_data and another file is l3m_qual. I assume l3m_data file carries parameter values of SST.
In this l3m_data file, most values are 65535 and remaining are 4 and 5 digit numbers. I believe 65535 is a fill value representing land area and remaining are SST values but SST values cannot be 4 or 5 digit values and hence that needs a conversion formula to show them in real values.

Can anybody suggest me how to get these values to actual SST parameter values?

suggest any tools available for such conversion or
suggest any formula for conversion of these values
suggest any programmatic script to run on these files to get them in real values or
kindly share if anybody is already using these data and procedures following for conversion.

Thanks in advance
Mahesh

Mahesh,

Really, posting in one place is sufficient.
