Dear all,

I would like to cite the following page in a paper I am going to submit,
http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/forum/oceancolor/topic_show.pl?pid=5009;hl=oc4v4%20algorithm#pid5009 ocean color forum

I found the topic which explains how to cite the information and data products
http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/forum/oceancolor/topic_show.pl?tid=474

is it the same for the ocean color forum?

Thank you in advance

Chiara

Hi Chiara,

To be honest, I'm not aware of any community accepted protocol for citing a forum page.  Perhaps others will chime in.  In the meantime, are you looking to cite the algorithms for MODIS and SeaWiFS and their differences?  The information in the forum post you list is outdated as of the 2009-2010 Reprocessings.  The best way to cite the suite of OC algorithms is O'Reilly et al. 1998.  The current, operational description of SeaWiFS and MODIS OC algorithms can be referenced using this link.  The data processing software (l2gen) can be referenced via this link.  Perhaps not the information you seek, but FYI.

Best,

Jeremy

Jeremy,

this was exactly what I was looking for. I already knew the O'Reilly's paper you are citing, what I needed was the operational algorithm descriprion and the data processing software.

Thank you

Chiara
