I'd like to extract bbp from SeaWiFS data. Is there such an algorithm available through NASA?

Yes and know. bbp (443) is a product which can be produced using SeaDAS. It is
derived by optimization of the Garver-Siegel-Maritorena-2001 semianalytical
bio-optical model. We were making this as an evaluation product in the past,
but it's not currently available other than through SeaDAS.
