Hi,

I work in the Gulf of Guinea and i have two problems with the modis images.

The first problems concerns the mean of the nLw (?) images. With Seawifs images, we use the -32000, -32767, 32767 as Ignore values and -32000 as the replace value in SeaDas. And i want to make the same operation with the Modis nLw (?) using the same values. But I can't. I noted that the non covered area by the images and the continents have different values in the images. So is there a manner to make the Modis nLw (?) averages correctly?

My second problem relates to the elimination of the clouds in the images of SST with the cloud flag. For example, with the chlorophyll concentration, the clouds are masked, but no with the SST images. So how to make this ?

Thanks !

This is not strictly a Direct Broadcast question. You would do better to ask such questions in the seadas or algorithm forums.

Are you referring to Level-2 products generated with SeaDAS? The missing value for nLw is 0 for both SeaWiFS and MODIS, not -32767, so perhaps I misunderstand.

There is no explicit cloud flag for SST.  Again, I assume you are referring to Level-2.  SST masking is controlled by the SST quality flags.  For more information, see:  http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/DOCS/modis_sst/
