Hi...

I have downloaded from the ocsf website L1A files for my area.  I've been trying to process it to get GSM products but it stops at geo processing with percent valid data less than the threshold.   I hope you can help me because every file gives the same error even though I know that seadas is already working as I have been able to run the benchmark script with Sean's help. I'll attach the L1A file and the log report for my processing.

Thanks,
olive

Olive -

The LogReport indicates that ALL pixels are missing, and something else that caught my eye:
Bounding coordinates
east: 3.141593
west: -3.141593
north: -1.570796
south: 1.570796

Bounding coordinates are expressed in radians, and for Level 1 files should not encompass the entire globe.

The L1A file didn't come through.  Could you please do the following, then attach the result?
ncdump_hdf A2009037042500.L1A_LAC.x.hdf > A2009037042500.L1A_LAC.x.hdf.ncd

Dear Gwyn,

I downloaded the files from OBPG specifying that I want the L1A files to be extracted for my region of interest.  Maybe this is why this granule was found to have no valid pixels? I checked the others and it worked with some.

Another question I have with the ancillary files.  Our connection is not so stable that is why I get socket time-out errors every time i do getanc.  When I downloaded these files I also got the ancillary files with it.  Is there a script that i can use so I can put all the ancillary files to the right directory tree so that it will be found automatically without needing for download?  I am doing a batch process from L1A to L3mapped.

Thanks,
olive

The L1A file and the .ncd file are too big. Is there some other email address I can send it to?

Thanks again...

Sorry, I gave you the command to dump all the data, when I need only the header!  That should be:

ncdump_hdf -h A2009037042500.L1A_LAC.x.hdf > A2009037042500.L1A_LAC.x.hdf.ncd

I need only the .ncd file.

1. Indeed, some extracted granules might not have any valid data.  See this post for an explanation:
http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/forum/oceancolor/topic_show.pl?pid=18398;hl=extract#pid18398

2. I posted a bash script fragment to do just that, here:

Dear gwyn,
I'm sorry but I already saw this topic post but couldn't decipher it.  I can't figure out how to incorporate this in my script.  Would it be possible for you to look at my script and tell me where to put this in? All my ancillary files are in the directory where my L1A files are and if I understand it correctly, I just want to:

  (1) query which anc files correspond to each L1A file
  (2) make directories e.g. /Users/olive/seadas6.3/run/var/anc/year/day
  (3) put the anc files to the right directory
  (4) then process the L1A file

Also, could you help me put an if, then fragment where I can check first if the granule has no valid data so I can skip and delete that file?  This way I can proceed through all the L1A files without errors and free up space.

So sorry for the bother.  I'm not so good yet with UNIX scripting

Thanks!
olive
