Hi,

Ship track should work fine in SeaDAS VA, right?

I am trying to output the pixel value at a location from chlor_a variable of this small L2 file, https://filestogeaux.lsu.edu/public/download.php?FILE=pdash/63080vESQX2. I am importing track data from the attached file 110_clearwater.dat.  After loading, surprisingly nothing shows up when I click on any of the output or plot tabs. Just when I click on "View Track Image Data Statistics" it says "No valid ship track data input yet". Except of that nothing gives me the output. I just want an output like the PNG attached.

Upon importing a different .dat file with the lat/lons of three locations, when I clicked on "Output Image Points Data", I got the message "The following error was encountered: Attempt to call undefined procedure/function: 'OUT_TRACK'. Please consult the supplier of the application".

I am using SeaDAS VA. I just downloaded and installed it last week. So, I think it's up-to-date. It can't happen that the out_track and/or ship track are not included in VA, right? Am I wrong somewhere in doing this?

Thanks as always!
regards,
Dash

Unfortunately, the seadasva.exe is _NOT_ up to date.   You need to install the current IDL runtime, which includes the OUT_TRACK procedure which was inadvertently omitted from the original distribution.   Check the data on $SEADAS/idl_rt/:

$ ls -l $SEADAS/idl_rt/seadas_idl_lib.sav
-rw-r-----  2 gwhite  bod  15093716  2 Jun  2009 /opt/nasa/SeaDAS/5.4/idl_rt/seadas_idl_lib.sav

(this in on a Mac -- the .sav file is the same for all platforms).   Installation of the newer version is the same as on any linux platform,
using a terminal:

1) cd $SEADAS
2) download seadas_idl_rt.tar.gz (you can do this using "w_g_e_t" with underscores removed)
3) mv idl_rt idl_rt.old
4) extract the files, e.g., tar xzf seadas_idl_rt.tar.gz

Once you have the update working, you can delete the idl_tr.old directory using "rm -f"

If you are not familiar with linux command-line processing, linuxcommand.org should help.

Hi George,

1) I downloaded seadas_idl_rt.tar.gz from SeaDAS download page, http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/seadas/download.html.
2) Moved seadas_idl_rt.tar.gz to $SEADAS.
3) Then followed the four steps you mentioned.

But, still no improvemnet. It is plotting the lat/lon location given in the .dat file on the image but not displaying the pixel value as shown in the PNG above.

First thanks George' help for SeaDAS ship-track
function in VA application.

We just used Dash's data to check this case
and found that a single track point in "clearwater.dat"
may not be suitable for xy plots. If just add one more
point like :

28.00 -91.00 1
28.25 -90.22 1

All those plotting functions should work.

Thanks Long. I added couple more points to the .dat file and it is working now. thanks a lot.
