SeaWiFS User and Ground Station Check List


OPTION 1: To become an Authorized SeaWiFS Data User:

1. Read the SeaWiFS Dear Colleague Letter and Appendices so you understand the terms of the user agreement

2. Submit a short proposal including:

  • A title for the project
  • A scientific rationale for the request (not to exceed 1 page)
  • General description of the spatial and temporal coverage required
  • The processing level (I, II, or III) of the data required if data are requested from NASA's archive
  • Plans for publication/dissemination of results (for researchers) or data access (for ground station operators)

    NOTE: At this time we prefer that the information be submitted electronically as described below.

  • 3. Fill out the new Online Research Data Use Terms and Conditions Agreement, verify the submission and submit it electronically for review and approval.

    4. Make sure to include:

  • Name of the Individual SeaWiFS Data User
  • Signature of Individual SeaWiFS Data User
  • Date
  • Mailing Address
  • E-mail Address
  • Telephone
  • Fax Number

  • OPTION 2: To become an authorized SeaWiFS Direct Readout Ground Station, in addition to the steps above, you must also:

    1. Read the SeaWiFS Dear Colleague Letter and Appendices so you understand the terms of the ground station agreement.

    2. Print, sign, and complete a hard copy of the Letter Agreement for SeaWiFS Direct Readout Ground Stations.

    3. Make sure to include:

  • Operator Name
  • Station Location (lat/long)
  • Signatures of:
    Operator
    Authorized Institutional Officer
    Authorized Government Agency Representative (for Non-U.S. Stations only)
  • Contact Information including:
    Full Name
    Mailing Address
    E-mail Address
    Telephone
    Fax Number
  • Receiving Station Status (Operational/Non-Operational)
  • 4. Mail original hard copy of form to:

    OPTION 3: To become an Authorized SeaWiFS Temporary Real-Time User or Station:

    1. You must already be, or apply to be an Authorized SeaWiFS Data User.

    2. Print, sign, and complete a hard copy of the SeaWiFS Temporary Real-Time Authorization Agreement Application Form.

    3. Make sure to include:

  • Name of the Applicant
  • Signature of Applicant
  • Name of HRPT Station to Provide Data
  • Name of Representative from HRPT Station
  • Signature of Representative from HRPT Station
  • Applicant's Institution
  • Mailing Address
  • E-mail Address
  • Telephone
  • Fax Number
  • Type of Temporary Agreement
  • Length of time requested (3 months maximum)
  • 4. Submit a short proposal including:

  • A title for the project
  • Principal Investigator(s)
  • Funding Agency(s)
  • Description of the Research Project and Justification for Real-time SeaWiFS Data (not to exceed 1 page)
  • 5. Mail proposal and original hard copy of form to:

    There is no specific deadline for receipt of proposals for research use of SeaWiFS data or for direct readout ground station authorization.
